Gameplay Video

This was a coursework where I had to make a game suited for VR which I manage to get the rig working only for the starting menu which showcased full interaction with the menu and object grabbing and interaction with the glass platforms in the level, this is because for the main game I needed a rig which contained gravity physics and jumping which I didn't manage to get working.

The idea for the game was to make a platformer game where the player had to get through platforms with a checkpoint in the middle to get to the end and exit the level, to help the player with this mission they would have a slot machine which they can use when guessing a platform right. From the slot machine the player can get 3 perks which are the Guess who? by getting the diamond coin and this will highlight the next platform which lasts one round, the 1 UP perk which is obtained by getting the heart coin and gets you 1 health point and the Better Luck Next time which is obtained by getting the skull which gives you nothing and you also lose the coin used.

The inspirations I took to make this game where the Glass Bridge Challenge from Squid Games where the contestants had to guess the platforms and avoid picking the wrong one which would break as they stepped on them. I also took inspirations from CloverPit and how the slot machine in that game is the main way of advancing in the game.

For the starting screen I took inspirations from the Call of Duty Black Ops start menu and how the player is in a dark room with monitors in front of him which he can use to navigate through the menu. The main level is set in an old factory, to achieve this feeling I made the scene dark and used the illumination of lamps and some windows to make sure the player can see enough to move around the level effectively, the platforms where made using ProBuilder and for most of the objects in the level I tried to used rusty or damaged materials to get as close as possible to the factory feel, the level contains moving lamps with some of them having flickering effects to add to the atmosphere and the slot machine was fully made using Blender.
